I just spent the weekend with a huge group of teens, both boys and girls and we spent time doing a ton of different activities and competitive stuff. The one thing that I noticed the most is the difference between those that were happy and those that weren’t right from the very beginning. Some thought that what we were doing was lame and they weren’t interested in it at all while others were excited from the beginning.

I watched many of them throught the weekend and watched how some completely changed their attitude and outlook. What I realized is that most of them were able to change their attitude and outlook because of who was in their group; both for the negative and for the positive. I’ve talked before to you and showed the youtube video about the power of influence but today I just wanted to mention the power of example.

Test the theory very simply: walk into a room with a smile and see how people respond to you and then walk into a room blank faced and see if there is a difference. Talk to your parent(s) in a grumpy way about something and then talk to them with respect and kindness another time and see what difference it makes for them and for you. I’m really interested in testing this theory so when you do it- email me or leave a comment and let me know what you thought.

In this episode Mat and Summer discuss the ways your mind is like a garden. If you plant what you want in a garden and if you take care of that garden, it will produce the fruits, vegitables, or flowers that you desire. But if you don’t take care of the garden it will produce weeds and useless plants. Our minds are the same. We can choose what to plant in the garden of our minds, and what we plant there will manifest itslef into our reality.

New Year’s Eve often brings with it an expetation. Do you have a date? Do you have someone to share it with at midnight? Are you going to a party? With who? Are you invited anywhere? This should be the funnest night of the year!

Don’t get me wrong, I love New Year’s Eve but I hate all the hype and expectation! For some reason on Dec. 31st (and Valentines Day), we either feel great about ourselves because we have plans with a date or friends or we feel miserable because we don’t. Why is this? Is this day really that different than yesterday night? I hope no one feels alone or miserable today or tonight. If you do…try thinking about what is going right in your life versus what isn’t. A little introspection on what you have that is okay and what friends you do have that surround you may get you further than anything.

Have fun tonight no matter what your plans are. And… maybe think ahead for next year and start planning something fun!
